Vidhisha Sonawane obtained her Bachelor’s degree in India and moved to Netherlands in 2018 for her Masters in Microbiology at Radboud University, Nijmegen. During her masters, she worked with Dr. Jakko van Ingen to test various antibiotic combinations to optimize the treatment therapy of Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). In 2019, she continued her research on NTMs under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Reinout van Crevel studying the induction of trained immunity by NTMs. With these projects and various theses she acquired good knowledge on Mycobacteriology.
In November 2020, she started her PhD under PD. Dr. Norbert Reiling at Research Centre Borstel in Germany. She will be testing the antimicrobial activity and the target validation of the inhibitors designed by WP1 and WP2 on Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
