Maria studied Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) with an exchange year at the University of Cambridge. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in 2019 and complemented her studies at UAM graduating with a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry the following year. During these studies she carried out research in the fields of medicinal chemistry and organocatalysis.
In December 2020 Maria started her PhD at Specs in the Netherlands. Her research is focused on designing and synthesizing inhibitors of the MEP-pathway, more specifically targeting the enzymes IspE and IspF.
